Foothill RV resorts
Long-stay winter residents running every system daily.

Superstition foothills
Gold Canyon sits right against the Superstitions, where large RV resorts host long-stay winter residents.
East Valley
East of Apache Junction along US-60, Gold Canyon is foothill country: higher, slightly cooler, and more exposed than the flat valley floor. Its large RV resorts fill with winter residents who stay for months, and the surrounding desert and trailheads draw shorter-stay campers.
Long stays mean daily-use service. Air conditioning, refrigeration, water heating, plumbing, and electrical systems all run continuously, and small annoyances become real problems when you live with them. Many residents also keep their coach parked for the entire season, which makes tire, seal, and leveling condition worth watching.
The foothills add wind and drainage. Gusts come down off the mountains harder than in the flats, and monsoon runoff moves fast across sloped desert ground. Awnings, roof edges, and site drainage all deserve more attention here than a valley-floor site would need.
On location
Long-stay winter residents running every system daily.
Rigs kept on property between trips.
Awnings and roof trim caught by gusts off the mountains.
Exposed sites with strong sun and little shade.
Getting a coach ready in the fall and closed up in spring.
Sloped desert sites are harder on jacks, slides, and doors.
Awning damage is one of the most common repairs we do in the foothills, and almost all of it is preventable. Retract the awning any time you leave the site or go to bed, and never leave it out in a forecast wind.
When damage does happen, we repair arms, hardware, and fabric — and check the sidewall mounting, which is the expensive part if a gust pulled hard enough.

“Bryon was excellent with communication, letting me know I can come in for service sooner than scheduled. He redid my entire PVC sewage line from tank to valve and saved me money by reusing undamaged parts. I totally recommend High Country RV.”
